    If you know someone like me who loves houseplants than I have a great thrifty gift idea for you.  Small houseplants can be found fairy inexpensively in most home improvement stores and discount stores, but don’t stop there with your gift.  You can take this reasonably priced gift and it look as if you spent a fortune on it.  All you need to do is take a trip to a thrift store and once there, think outside the box.

    To begin, take a trip down any isle in the house wares section of your local thrift store.  There you can find a variety of things that would make a lovely and one of a kind planter for your houseplant.  Look for deep items that will give the plant plenty room to grow.

    Down the wood isle you may find wooden bowls and decorated boxes that can easily become a planter with the addition of a little gravel (for drainage), dirt and of course the houseplant.  Brass containers can also be found and make an excellent pot to put your plant in as does glass vases and serving bowls.

    Some of my favorite things to look for are cookie jars and canisters.  I like to look for a character or people cookie jars so long as the top of the cookie jar is not the character’s entire head.  This way when the plant has been added
