A Jewelry Box Turned Into a Sewing Box

This is one of those beauty is in the eye of the beholder kind of things.
I stumbled upon this box in a thrift store I don’t go to very often.  I have this firm rule not to buy anything unless I have a clear idea what I am going to use it for or who I would give it to, etc.  If I didn’t do this I’d probably end up sleeping in my car because there is no more room in my house!
So here I am, at a thrift store I rarely go to so I can’t do my ‘If its meant to be mine it will still be here the next time I come’ sort of rationality.  I’m looking at this case, I’m really not even all that sure what it was originally intended to be, but its in great shape, shiny paten leather in a very fake alligator skin pattern (Have I ever mentioned my weakness for the bizarre and tacky?) and it has this great latch.  All for only 2.99!
The top opened and the entire front of the case opened out.  There was a small drawer in the bottom and this great pull out multi hinged tier kind of thing.  (I really like that hinged tier thing)
